Still riding high from his 3 big CMA wins in November, breakout star Chris Stapleton is once again racking up the nominations this year for the ACM Awards. This singer/songwriter received 4 noms after his album Traveller skyrocketed to the top of the charts following his impressive takeover at the CMA Awards—before this, his album was no where to be seen on the charts. It’s great to see the country music community finally recognizing such an incredible talent.
Another rising superstar that has been on many “artists to watch” lists is female powerhouse Kelsea Ballerini. She has had a quick rise to fame while her debut single “Love Me Like You Mean It” dominated the charts and made her the first female artist in 9 years to have her debut single hit #1. This incredible year has also included 2 big noms at the CMA Awards last year, matching her 2 ACM noms this year. Although she didn't take home a CMA win, signs are all pointing in the right direction for her to take home an ACM win this year.
Also on the list of rising female talent is Mickey Guyton. Her exceptional voice earned her a well-deserved nom for New Female Vocalist of the Year. Guyton’s incredible range and genuine songwriting talent is displayed beautifully on her debut single “Better Than You Left Me.” Be on the lookout for more music from her because you will definitely be seeing much more of this star in the future.
Old Dominion has really made a name for themselves this past year and they have 2 ACM noms to prove it. While previously working more behind the scenes as songwriters for artists like Dierks Bentley and Kenny Chesney, the band recently celebrated their first No. 1 with their debut single, “Break up With Him,” off of their new album Meat and Candy. Also off this album is their current single, “Snapback,” which is continuing to climb the charts—maybe they’ll have another No. 1 by the time the awards roll around.
Another group to keep your eye on is Stoney Creek recording artist Parmalee. Although this is their first ever nomination, we’ve seen them on the charts for a few years now. You might know them best for their No. 1 single, “Carolina,” and their top 5 hit “Close Your Eyes” in 2013 and 2014 respectively. You’ve also probably heard their current single “Already Callin’ You Mine,” on the radio—keep a close watch on these guys because you will definitely be hearing more of them.
