About two months ago I had the coolest experience and got the chance to write a song with Jason Michael Carroll. I got to know Jason while working alongside 94.7 QDR at a couple shows. We got to talking music, duh, and I told him I play guitar. Well one thing lead to another and I found myself sitting in the guitar studio I teach for across from Jason. It was so cool and surreal watching him set up his gadgets.
About two hours in, halfway into writing a song that holds near and dear to my life and family, I'm finally getting into the hang of things. The whole time thinking to myself "PINCH ME! Holy crap! So this is how it's done in Nashville; the big Music City!"
Time flew by and we had an amazing song in front of us. That night, I was sitting on the back porch with my parents showing them what I had spent the afternoon doing, and the conversation following was just how nice it was that Jason took time out of his day to show me the steps of songwriting.
Here I am, a young and eager country lover aspiring to be a songwriter and he comes in open to my ideas and suggestions. It truly is an amazing song and I am so blessed that my first experience writing a song was with a person that is amazing and talented like Jason Michael Carroll.
