A little over a month ago, Kip Moore tweeted something that really stuck with me.
It seems so simple. Dedicating an hour or two to something I love should be a no brainer, seeing as how I can continually click refresh on Twitter for just as long without a second thought. So I finally decided to follow Kip’s advice and stepped away from the world for a few minutes to listen to a new album. I’d heard it 2 or 3 times before, but it had previously served as background noise while I was working or feeding my Twitter addiction and I never actually listened. I went to my room, closed the door, turned off my cell phone, and gave the album my full attention. The words stung, the emotion was stronger, and I found myself in the midst of an experience. I heard things, both lyrically and sonically, that I'd never heard before. Despite Kip's methods, this doesn't require vinyl or alcohol (though neither are discouraged). Everybody should at least try this once or twice. I guarantee you’ll be surprised at what you missed.
